Lewey and Serena's wedding in their Sussex Garden

Serena is a dear friend of mine, so when she and Lewey asked me if I would be their celebrant I was thrilled! They planned an incredible wedding in the garden of their Sussex home which oozed personality and fun and left everyone with face ache from smiling so much!

"She was relaxed, joyful, composed and inclusive - I cannot praise her enough."

Jill, Groom's Mum

When I first sat down to talk all things wedding ceremony with Serena and Lewey, they weren't one hundred percent clear on what they wanted. They knew they wanted something fun and colourful but they were both worried about any 'mushiness'! They wanted their ceremony to set the feel for the rest of the day, getting everyone in the mood for a party. They were nervous about sharing any emotions and answering some of the questionnaire questions proved a little tricky.

BUT we stuck with it and worked together to get to a place of balance that they were both happy with and that they felt reflected them and the day they wanted to create. The ceremony was light hearted and fun (they are both very able to laugh at themselves and each other!) but we did manage to add some softer, more sentimental moments....it was a wedding after all!

I helped them to put together personal vows and to find readings which felt appropriate. The groom's mum also wrote the most wonderful poem which she shared on the day which just captured the couple perfectly.

The brief when it came to the look and feel was a riot of colour - anything goes!! The super talented Karen from Blossom and Bee Floristry totally nailed that one with the most incredible flowers full of texture, colour and fun! And when Serena then appeared in her amazing hot pink dress, her vision totally came together.

We wrapped proceedings up with a glorious sing-a-long to That's Amore accompanied by a brass band (The Hornbrokers) who then played the couple back up the aisle as they were showered in confetti and led the guests off to the drinks reception in jubilant style.

The smiles on Lewey and Serena's faces and the compliments from all of their guests is something I'll never forget - this ceremony was packed with personality, love and SO. MUCH. JOY!

"The result was relaxed, completely us, loving and sentimental."
