Why Have A Naming Ceremony?
Welcome a new life
Introduce your child to wider friends and family
Appoint god / guide parent
Naming ceremonies are about new life and new beginnings, but they aren't always about babies! Naming ceremonies are suitable for children of all ages, adopted children, the joining of two families or perhaps the affirmation of a new person in the case of gender reassignment. All of these can be great milestones to mark and cause for celebration.
BABY NAMING CEREMONY
Officially welcoming a new life to the world can be a really lovely way to introduce them to wider family and friends. If you have decided that a Christening or other religious ceremony is not for you, but perhaps you want to appoint specific 'guide parents' then a baby naming can be a great way to do this.
Maybe you have different faiths which you want to be recognised at this important time, this can certainly be achieved. Or perhaps you feel you want to make your own promises and commitments to your child, in line with your own personal values, but you want to leave them the freedom to explore their own beliefs in time.
Maybe you just think your new arrival is great and it deserves a celebration!!
I will work with you to create whatever it is you hope to achieve in welcoming the newest member of your family in a truly special way.
ADOPTION CEREMONY
Whether you choose to call it an adoption ceremony, a naming ceremony, a welcoming ceremony or anything else that suits you, this is an opportunity to celebrate the joining of a child or children in to a family. Deciding to adopt is no light decision and holding a ceremony to recognise the union and the start of new beginnings may be something that feels important to you.
This can also be an opportunity to appoint other significant adults in the child/ren's lives - guide parents, mentors, fairy god parents - people who will also be part of your wider team in supporting this new family unit.
Let's work together to create something that works for you and the children involved - it might be sensitive, moving or lots of laughs, but you can be certain it will be just what you all want.
JOINING OF TWO FAMILIES
Two families joining together is a big step and there can be a lot of emotions and different feelings to consider. Creating a wholly personalised ceremony can be a really meaningful way of recognising the union and including all family members in a positive way.
