Abi & Kostas | An interfaith wedding ceremony at Silchester Farm celebrating Jewish and Greek traditions

There are some wedding ceremonies that feel like a true meeting of cultures, families, and stories and Abi and Kostas’ wedding at Silchester Farm was exactly that.
Set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, Silchester Farm is a stunning rural wedding venue, and their ceremony took place in one of its original barn spaces - the perfect setting for a deeply personal and meaningful interfaith wedding ceremony.

Abi and Kostas
Abi is Jewish and Kostas is Greek, and from the very beginning they wanted their ceremony to reflect both of their backgrounds equally, celebrating each in its own right while creating something completely their own.
As a wedding celebrant specialising in personalised and interfaith wedding ceremonies, it’s always a privilege to help couples bring this kind of vision to life.
At the heart of Abi and Kostas’ wedding ceremony was their story; who they are as individuals and who they are together.
They are a couple who don’t take life too seriously, in the best possible way. They love hosting, they love their people, and they have a natural warmth that makes everyone feel instantly welcome. That energy shaped the entire tone of the ceremony.
With Greek family members present, we also had a friend translate key parts of the ceremony, ensuring that everyone could feel fully included in the moment. This added a beautiful sense of shared experience and connection across both families.
We included a communal vow - a simple, shared moment spoken together that immediately brought all of their guests into the ceremony itself. It created a sense of unity and participation.
From there, Abi and Kostas shared their personal wedding vows, which they had written themselves. These were heartfelt, honest, funny and totally them.
One of the joys of this ceremony was how Abi and Kostas embraced both tradition and playfulness within their wedding rituals.
We included a Kiddush cup (Becker), which held particular meaning for Abi’s family as it had also been used in her parents’ wedding ceremony. In a personal twist, they chose to fill it with whiskey rather than wine - a small detail that felt entirely true to them and added a moment of lightness and laughter.
We also included a Greek wedding tradition where Abi playfully stepped on Kostas’ toe...a symbolic moment that represents light-hearted humour around partnership and “who is in charge.” It was delivered perfectly and brought smiles all round.
As we brought the ceremony to it's close, we included one of the most powerful symbolic moments of the day with the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass. But continuing as we had begun - we added a little twist by pairing it with a Greek plate smash - bringing together two cultural wedding rituals in a single shared celebration. As the glass and plate broke, guests joined in with joyful shouts of “Mazel Tov” and “Opah,” filling the barn with noise, laughter, and celebration.
Abi and Kostas’ wedding at Silchester Farm was a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple - warm, relaxed, welcoming, and full of humour.
They are the kind of people who bring others together naturally, and their ceremony reflected exactly that. It was emotional without being heavy, joyful without being chaotic, and deeply personal from start to finish.
For me as a wedding celebrant, it was a beautiful reminder of why personalised wedding ceremonies and interfaith wedding ceremonies matter so much: they allow couples to honour where they come from while fully stepping into who they are together.
