Add that extra sparkle to your wedding day!

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

Here in Sussex we are fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful vineyards producing some of the very best wines England has to offer; Sussex wines have in fact just been awarded geographically protected status (read more here). As it is English Wine Week, I thought I would share some ideas on how you might want to incorporate your favourite local tipple in to your wedding day.

First off, why not consider one of the amazing vineyards we have locally as the venue for your big day.

Rathfinny Estate, Alfriston

You get exclusive use at this idyllic location and there are a variety of spaces to choose from. The tasting room restaurant is perfect for a more intimate affair whilst the flint barn farmhouse is better suited to larger celebrations (up to 120 guests) and there are both indoor and outdoor options for your ceremony. The views are stunning, there are 10 en-suite bedrooms onsite and the food looks amazing…what more could you ask for?

Bluebell Vineyard, Furners Green

Looking for a great location for a marquee wedding…look no further! Bluebell Vineyard is able to accommodate up to 180 guests who are bound to enjoy the view of the vines while they sip on their wine. This venue isn’t licensed for your legal ceremony, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t hold a truly personal and wonderful celebrant-led ceremony here!

Wiston Estate, Pulborough

Having recently completed a major project to refurbish some of the old barns, Wiston Estate offers a variety of spaces for hire; from their private dining room for just 10 people up to the grounds of Wiston Estate Park which can accommodate much larger events.

And if you already have another venue in mind, then why not treat your guests to Sussex wines on the day. Whether you wish to welcome guests with a glass of your favourite fizz, swap flower girls for fizzy friends or bubbly boys (hmmm those might need a bit of work) or go all out and serve only Sussex wines throughout then we have a plethora of amazing choices locally….why not indulge in some research and try a few to find your perfect choice!!

The following vineyards offer specific wedding packages or advice:

I’d love to know if you are a fan of English wine and whether it will feature in your big day somehow. Plus…I’m quite partial to a glass of English bubbly myself…so maybe I’m the celebrant to conduct your ceremony with that bit of added sparkle.
